Wheat Ridge Parks & Recreation is ready for your return! We are implementing a phased approach to reopening that complies with the current state and federal recommendations and adheres to strict safety protocols for both patrons and staff. The phased safe return plan includes reduced facility capacities, limiting gatherings, enforcing social distancing guidelines, enhancing cleaning and sanitization efforts, using PPE and more.

Facilities
Wheat Ridge Recreation Center
With the recent update to state orders, we are excited to welcome residents back to the Wheat Ridge Recreation Center beginning Wednesday, June 10.
Temporary Hours
Monday – Friday 8:00am – 7:00pm
Saturday 8:00am – 12:30pm
Sunday 10:00am – 2:30pm
Amenities
Open to Wheat Ridge residents only for individual workouts on the fitness floor, pilates reformer classes (schedule TBA), lap swimming, limited leisure pool swimming, racquetball and massage therapy.
During this first phase the following amenities are not available: drop-in group fitness classes, fitness studio, gym (basketball, volleyball), climbing wall, sauna, steam room, hot tub, child care, lockers, rentals. Drinking fountains will not be available, but the bottle filler stations will – you must bring your own water bottle.
Reservations
Reservations are required due to limited capacity and can be made online at www.rootedinfun.com/register or by calling 303-231-1300 (available beginning Tuesday, June 9)
- Walk-ups/drop-ins are not permitted at this time.
- Reservations may be made one week in advance. First-come, first-served.
- Limited to one reservation time per person per day and a max of four reservations per person per week.
Payment & Passes
- $3 (active pass members)/$5 (non-pass members) per person, per reservation time.
- Payment must be made over the phone or online to reserve your time.
- No refunds for missed reservations.
- Existing passes (10-visit cards, month-to-month, annual) will remain inactive during this phase and cannot be used to reserve a time. Passes will not be reactivated until the facility can open with larger capacity. Pass expiration dates will be extended the full length of our closure/time they were inactive and unable to be used.
- Active SilverSneakers and Renew Active memberships will be accepted as valid payment. You must still reserve a time online or over the phone.
Reservation Times & Rules
Lap Pool – 1 hour
- 8 lap lanes available for each time slot for lap swim only.
Leisure Pool – 1 hour
- Max of 7 patrons per time slot.
- Limited to water walking and therapeutic exercise only.
Rules & Restrictions
- Ages 18 & older only.
- Only patrons with a pool reservation will have access to the locker rooms. But lockers will not be available.
- Bring your own equipment. We will not provide kickboards, swim buoys, noodles, etc.
- Masks are required until entering the pool.
- Proper swim attire is required. Street clothes and cotton are not permitted.
- State health regulations require full head and body shower to be taken before entering pools.

Fitness Floor – 1 hour, 15 minutes
Rules & Restrictions
- Ages 12 & older only.
- Free style use of the fitness area upstairs.
- No group fitness classes, no instructors.
- No access to lockers or locker rooms.
- Max of 15 patrons per time slot.
- Face masks must be worn while in the facility. You may remove your mask while working out, but please put it back on when moving to another area or exiting the facility.
- Fitness equipment has been spaced out or taped off to accommodate social distancing. Please practice social distancing as much as possible while workout out.
- Two-side red/green cards will be placed at each machine. The green side indicates the machine has been cleaned/disinfected by staff and is ready to use. When finished using a machine, please wipe it down and turn the card over to red to indicate that the machine was used and needs to be cleaned/disinfected by staff.
- There will be a designated area marked in blue tape to return used equipment (dumbbells, kettlebells, etc.) to. Please wipe down the equipment and then place it there for staff to clean/disinfect also.
Racquetball Courts – 1 hour, 15 minutes
Rules & Restrictions
- Limited to two people per court and must reside in the same household as social distancing while playing racquetball is not possible.
- You must bring your own racquets and balls, we will not provide equipment at this time.
- No access to lockers or locker rooms.
- Ages 6 & older only. Youth under the age of 12 must be with an adult 18 or older.

Arriving For Your Reservation
- When you arrive for your reservation, please wait outside the front entrance for a staff member to welcome you in. Green Xs are placed on the sidewalk for you to lineup on if you’d like.
- If you arrive early, please wait in your car or maintain distance from others while waiting outside.
- Proceed to the front desk, maintaining physical distance from others by following the floor decals spaced 6 ft. apart, and provide your name to a guest services team member who will verify your reservation.
- If you arrive late, your reservation time will not be extended. You will only be able to use the facility for the time remaining in your reservation.
When Your Time Is Up
- You must promptly exit the facility at the end of your reservation.
- Staff have a very limited time in-between reservations to clean and disinfect before the next group enters.
- Announcements will be made over the intercom 15 minutes before your time ends and again when there’s 5 minutes remaining.
- Guests who do not leave on time and are repeatedly reminded to do so will lose reservation privileges.
To maintain a safe and healthy environment and keep our doors open, everyone entering the Wheat Ridge Recreation Center must commit to the following:
- I will stay home if I have a fever, cough or any other symptoms of COVID-19 or have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 14 days.
- I will wear a face mask at all times except while actively working out or in the pool.
- I will practice physical distancing (stay 6 ft. apart) to the greatest extent possible.
- I will not shake hands or engage in physical contact with others.
- I will wash my hands often. And I will use hand sanitizer in between hand washing.
- I will not share equipment with others, and will disinfect equipment before and after use.
WHAT ARE WE DOING TO HELP KEEP YOU SAFE
- Staff are required to self-screen for fever before entering the building.
- Staff are required to wear face masks.
- Staff will practice physical distancing (maintain 6 ft. apart) to the greatest extent possible.
- High touch areas will be cleaned and disinfected frequently throughout the day.
- Plexiglas separators have been installed at the front desk.
- Doors and windows will be open when weather permits to increase air flow.
- 6 ft. distanced decals have been placed on the floor in high-traffic areas to help with physical distancing efforts.
- All reading materials have been removed.
- No contact, verbal check-in for reservations only.
- Hand sanitizing stations are available throughout the facility.
Anderson Building & Pool
- Anderson Pool is CLOSED for the 2020 summer season.
- Cycling classes are being moved from the Wheat Ridge Rec Center to the Anderson Building – schedule TBA.
- Gym rentals at the Anderson Building will be available for small groups of 10 or less.
Active Adult Center
