As a Polish Catholic Social Worker during WWII, Irena Sendler risked her life to save 2500 Jewish children from the Warsaw Ghetto. She was the leader of the children’s section of Zegota, Council for Aid to Jews, and part of the Polish underground. Irena never thought of herself as a hero, and said she simply did what needed to be done. Born in 1910 and died in Warsaw in 2008. Irena received many humanitarian awards. Portrayed by Judy Winnick. During Judy’s teaching career, she received one of Colorado’s Distinguished Teacher Awards. Lunch will be served.

We are excited to announce that the Wheat Ridge Greenbelt has been chosen as a 2023 Leave No Trace Spotlight! This June we will be joined by a Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Team in order to bring attention to the challenges the Greenbelt is facing and to shine a spotlight on how our community is rising to meet them. The multi-day event will include Leave No Trace education, outreach, and stewardship with the goal to build momentum and inspire involvement for the future. Stay tuned for more details.
