Youth Soccer Leagues

Our recreational program for boys and girls ages 5 and older provides a fun, learning experience for players who just love to play! Teams are coached by volunteer coaches, many of whom are parents.

Both the spring and fall season operate within the Colorado Soccer Association club format and consist of 2 to 3 weeks of preseason practice and 8 weeks of Saturday games plus weekly practices. Practices are held at various Wheat Ridge parks and schools with games played throughout the Denver Metro area. For more information contact Jim Spaulding at jspaulding@ci.wheatridge.co.us.

Spring Season

  • Mid March through Mid May

Fall Season

  • August through Mid November

Team Placement

Teams are formed based on your child's birth year, not school grade as mandated by the Colorado Soccer Association. Registration is first-come, first-served and accepted until teams are full.

PLEASE NOTE: Early registration helps in getting your child placed onto a team, however registration alone is no guarantee we’ll be able to place your child. Returning players who register by the returning player deadline are placed onto their original team rosters first. This is followed by placing new players into any remaining roster spots, based on the registration date. Once teams are full, we will enter the final phase of registration which includes forming new teams with any remaining new players. New teams require full rosters and a volunteer coach in order to enter the team into league play. Parents will be informed as soon as possible if it appears their child will not be placed onto a team. This to allow for registration in other local programs in time to secure a roster spot.

In-House League

We offer an in-house youth soccer league for ages 3+ in the summer. This is a fun introductory program that fits nicely between our spring and fall club soccer seasons. Contact Mackey at mpower@ci.wheatridge.co.us for more information.

Important Info

Will Covid-19 affect our soccer season?

We know that it is important for kids to remain socially engaged and physically active, so we will shift-on-the-fly and adjust in any way we can to allow the season to progress. We will do our very best to provide options for your family and our goal will always be to try to move forward with some kind of soccer program for your child, even if it might preclude some elements of the program. If suddenly there are restrictions, the Parks and Recreation department will forward information quickly so that you can make an informed decision. Currently masks are not required but you should feel comfortable making whatever masking decision works best for your family.
