Middle School Sports Program

Program

The Middle School Sports Program (MSSP) provides 6th, 7th and 8th grade students at participating middle schools the opportunity to play in after-school sports. 

All programs are recreational and open to all ability levels with an emphasis on fun, sportsmanship, and fair play. 

Players are taught basic rules of play and receive an equal amount of playing time. Players must adhere to the Player's Code of Conduct and abide by team rules and expectations.

Fall Sports

  • Cross Country: Coed (combined 7th and 8th grade team)
  • Flag Football: Coed (combined 7th and 8th grade teams)
  • Volleyball: Coed (separate 7th and 8th grade teams)

Winter Sports

  • Basketball:
    • Boys (separate 7th and 8th grade teams)
    • Girls (combined 7th and 8th grade teams)

Spring Sports

  • Track and Field: Coed (combined 7th and 8th grade team)

Practices & Games

Practices start immediately following school release and last approximately 1.5 hours. Games are played at home and away locations at other Jefferson County middle schools. Game schedules will be available approximately one week after practices start. 

Transportation is not provided to away games; parents must provide or arrange transportation. MSSP t-shirts provided must be worn at all games.

Fees

  • $55 League fee (per sport)
  • $10 MSSP T-shirt (if needed)

Coaches Needed

We are looking for enthusiastic coaches for MSSP teams. Minimal experience necessary, but a positive attitude is a must! Email Brandon Altenburg if you're interested.
